The art of Sherry Hendrick - Kuespert

I was born in Germany as a result of being in a military family. I’m a self taught artist that started drawing as a child. I was around eight when my parents noticed that I might have a talent for drawing. They never let me stray, too far, from art and have been my biggest fans. I did have some art classes in college, but was lacking in good instructors. I worked in the sign business for many years while starting a family and being a military wife. During that time I doodled here and there, did paintings, and did murals for family and friends. Only recently, (now that the kids are more self sufficient) have I started making a serious effort to establish myself as an artist. I was learning through anything I could get my hands on, and decided that wasn’t enough anymore. I joined the South Mississippi Art Association, www.southmsart.org, and have met some wonderful and talented artists who have been more than helpful to me. Because of them, I have tried pastel painting and I think I have found a medium that’s perfect for me. Trust me, I have a lot to learn and my drawing skills are rusty, but the difference with this medium is that I am enjoying using it. I’ve done watercolor, acrylic, oil, and graphite, but I find that pastel is less frustrating. Maybe because it’s something completely new, never the less, I like the less frustrating part. I have been painting landscapes more lately, and thanks to my husband and children I’ve had the time to finish a few. I don’t think I could have accomplished the things that I have if it weren’t for the support of my family.
